For our brain, thinking is the same as doing.
If you smile, your brain interprets that you are happy and sends the corresponding signals that make you feel happy.
As simple as that. Therefore, smile if you are happy and smile to be happy.
Try it: when you're having a tough day, smile! Just like that. Find a way to see your reflection and smile more. Raise your arms, stretch a little, change your position, stand up... and smile.
I assure you that you will feel better and, when others see you, you will be able to impact them with a positive attitude, even on hard days. Think about it: If you are close to someone who is going through a difficult time, you can offer them a sympathetic smile, perhaps also offer your hand or a hug. If the other person accepts your hand or your hug, and you are in a positive state, you will be able to help them feel better.
We usually smile if we are having a good time; So, if we find the lesson implicit in difficult times, we will also find a reason to smile and lighten the load...even if it's only for a moment.
