About the death of a loved one

I thought of this phrase many years ago when it seemed impossible to overcome the absence: Cry when you have to cry and smile when you have to smile.

This is what comes to my mind and my heart: crying for the emptiness and smiling for the moments of joy is a way to honor their memory and be grateful for their presence in our lives.

I apply this phrase when a loved one dies and I follow it because I think that that person would like to know about our sadness and our awareness of how privileged we were to share moments together, the learning, the ways to overcome obstacles, and the mark they left on us.

I share it with you because it could also help you to think that it is a way to make their path be full of peace and satisfaction for having lived a life of gratitude for being alive, and of love for themselves and for others.

The death of a loved one is not about you, it is about them. You can heal your wounds if you honor their life and let them reach their final destination.
